A possible "situation" has arisen. A Shiloh Sharps 1863 rifle is lumbering in my direction. The rifle uses 5/16 x 28 nipples rather than 1/4 x 24s. Does Mr. Weber make platinum lined nipples in this size also?

And a parenthetic question: If there is a significant difference between the two different nipple thread sizes in withstanding high ignition pressure, which is superior?

In reading thru these I can not help wondering if longevity is the paramount reason for them? At $ 60 a pop you could change quite often to maintain smaller Standard of deviation. I guess careful weighing powder charges would be required as well. George T.
 
Powder and bullets are both carefully weight. You can burn out a normal nipple in a few shots and your accuracy goes to hell.
