South Dakota's muzzleloading season is about Dec 15th to Jan 31st. For does only, caliber .44 or larger, open or peep sites only, black poweder or black powder substitue only. Doug

SD starting offering muzzleloader "any deer" tags by drawing last year. I was lucky to get one this year. Must be at least 44 caliber and the only sights that are allowed are open or peeps. No scopes are allowed. Non-resident tags are $55 and can be bought over the counter after the drawings are over. There are always left-over doe tags.

Black powder pistols can’t be used in South Dakota to hunt
deer unless you use a shoulder stock on them. Then it’s OK.
