I think that they will work just fine for you Swampy. What you may consider is a gusset on the top of the stove pipes, much like we see on breeches, to widen the mouth making it easier to slide the foot and calf into? Just a thought as I have had to do those for people with very large calves and not so thick areas just below the knee.
At any rate I sure would like to see the outcome of this project. :thumbsup:
