Speed loaders

Guy from our gun club gave me a bag of assorted wads, and included with it was 8 speed loaders. Never new something like this existed. Its a plastic tube with a plastic divider in the middle, capped on each end. Under the red cap, you preload powder and under the white cap preload the shot. Less I'll have to carry and measure while hunting. Load them before starting and I'll be good for a full day or more of hunting.

These hold up to 1 1/4 ounce #5 shot. I suppose one could put powder in some of them. Could also cut so there is length on either side of the node and make like your plastic ones.
I don't mind measuring powder each shot, but I don't like messing with loose shot while hunting.
Mostly I use my pre-made shot cup/cartridges now.

Are you looking for approval to use? Or comments on how well they work? Try them in a controlled environment, like at the range, then decide for yourself if they make the cut for you.

Not looking for approval, just found it curious. Wish I knew about them before hunting season. These supposedly hold 1 1/8 shot loads, I'll use less than that. But now I wont have to carry shot, powder, and a measurer when I go hunting.

I use them for powder and shot, they're handy. Especially for powder when hunting.

I sometimes use plastic vials the same but not doubled up like your friend passed to you.
I don't really want to use plastic mind and so I also have (somewhere) some little glass vials with cork stoppers. They work well too.
I generally load from flasks though. I'm not usually in a rush. When I've shot in company I usually prepare paper cartridges beforehand.

there have been all varieties of speed loaders over the decades, some really innovative ! Dixie Guworks
had waxed cardboard tubes with caps in their catalog back in the 60s.

Dollar store has these clear plastic vials , 2.5" x 3/4" w/metal lid in the art and craft dept.. 4 for a$1. Good forcaps , loads, and shot , oreven balls.

I use paper powder and shot cartridges for hunting or trap shooting. I make the powder charges out of wax paper, and the shot cartridges out of newspaper. Both are tied with kite string.To load I rip open the powder charge dump in the powder,put the wax paper in, then one leather wad. and load the shot cartridge with the folded end out to serve as an over shot card.

If they didn't have it in the mid 18th, I don't use it. That leaves me with wood, wool, certain metals, but nothing electronic or plastic. Only certain foods. When I grew old I relaxed my rules by keeping a turned off cell phone out of sight. Speed loaders have always been loading blocks. Individual doses of powder kept in bored out wooden dowel, corked. I've even used small glass bottles. (Not my best idea.)
