I've used them, and they really improve ignition reliability with Pyrodex. If you're using regular black, they really aren't necessary. I've also got some 6 x .75mm Ampco bronze nipples from Track of the Wolf, and they work great with both.
 
I've tried both, in fact have the Ampco bronze on my 50 cal fast twist barrel, Spitfire on the slow twist barrel fitting the same stock and just a stainless steel nipple on my 54 cal., can't say I've noticed a difference yet but I shoot tradtional black most of the time. I'm hoping that the AMPCO nipples last longer than the others as have heard that bronze is better in this situation but want to see for myself.
