Spout for black powder bottles

Please identify spout-caps that replace caps of one-pound bottles of Swiss brand FFg and FFFg.

What I did for the new plastic cans was take a lid, drill a hole in it for an empty modern casing (primer pocket drilled out ) and epoxy the casing into the lid.Being a cheap skate I never buy what I can make! :idunno:

I might had to ohio ramrod's informative post by saying that when you drill out the base of a modern cartridge to make a spout, you will need to drill a big hole so that the black powder will readily flow through it. The primer pocket hole as it is is too small and needs to be enlarged. Otherwise, it is a great idea. Also, find an empty pistol cartridge case that will fit over the end of the spout to cover it and keep it safe from sparks. You should always keep your powder supply covered and protected from errant sparks.

That's what I was going to recommend as well. An empty .30-30 Win. cartridge is ideal since it has a rim to help retain it when epoxied in place.

I have taken the spout off of a empty mustard container, cut the proper hole in the powder can lid, and glue the spout to the lid. Works great, and the mustard spout has a flip open lid to seal the powder can when not in use. I too like to make things instead of buying them.

I've never tried that. I didn't know the mustard caps would fit. Darned good idea! :thumbsup:

Try a .444 Marlin and a .45-70 case they fit toghther perfectly. Also they are rimmed.

The Log Cabin shop shows one online for about 9 bucks. Looks like a big friction fit rubber stopper design with an automatic closing spout. Never used one but it looks interesting.

I actually have this spout for my Goex/Old Eynsford powder in the new plastic containers, but Naphtali's question is about a lid for Swiss powder. Are you saying that the Swiss takes the same size as the new Goex?

Thanks for the clarification. I missed Swiss in the original post. I have that spout cap too for Goex and I don't know if it would fit on Swiss. RMC has some other ones on their website too that might work if this one doesn't. Might be worth a call to ask them if they know which would work on Swiss containers.

Now that I think about it, I started a thread for the same question about the new Goex containers a couple months back. That's how I learned of the link that I posted. Someone else posted a DIY solution to make a spout by drilling a hole in the factory lid and inserting a plastic tip. Here's a link to the thread.
