This is an original 1842 musket cut down to carbine length. It was a cut down smoothbore when it came to me. I altered it to represent a Confederate rifled carbine. Barrel was relined and rifled by Bob Hoyt, 3 lands and grooves for a minie. Reproduction rifle sight and barrel mounted front sight added as well as front and rear sling swivels. Uses a .686 Rapine or Moose 500 gr semi wadcutter minie. $750.00

Yes! I use a .672 ball and an .020 patch with a 14 ga over powder lubed over powder cushion wad. The barrel has progressive depth rifling which is deepest (.015 ) at the breech end as opposed to .005 at the muzzle. The patched ball will need a good rap to get it started. Of course you could go to a thinner patch.

This rifled carbine is a steal for an original 1842 especially with a Bob Hoyt reline. Too bad I'm short of funds right now or it would be headed this way.

Hi

If you still have this, could you please post (or send) some additional pics? I'd love to see the muzzle and the sights. Very interested.
