I must agree with the patch size affecting accuracy with small calibers. Let me add one more factor that affects the accuracy in cold weather. I used to use moose snot all of the time but as the temperature drops you need a lube that does not get stiff. I have used bear fat with success at temps below 40 deg. Hope this helps.
 
Interesting. I used Moose Snot in -11° Fahrenheit weather when I lived in Vermont. I made up a batch of it because my tube of Bore Butter was frozen solid and made a much better hammer to put up targets with than anything else. Never had trouble with Stumpy's Moose Snot. Made a new batch just a few weeks ago.

Hey Stumpy, what's your take on these vastly different results? How does your own mixture work for you in cold weather?
