I checked my stain on a scrap piece of wood.curly maple. Used AF, then heat gun then stain, way to dark can't see grain or stripes.Tried other formulas bout the same. Tried stain only OK goes on great then decades out. Put oil over that ,fades out. Tried just the stain everytime I put a c oat on its beautiful just what I wand stripes pop and wood has a real nice reputation hue. But it dries and fades away. The stain is laurel mnt forge ,,nut brown

AF will only accentuate the figure that is already there.
After AF and heat, use a scotchbrite pad to bring out the figure before adding any finish. The colors that you have when wet, will be the final colors you get with additional applications of oil.

hesitant on the af but I've used it before with good results. Here's just the stain 3 coats
