What do you folks think about a codified standard for civilly discussing topics on this forum:

If the originator of a thread so wishes, he can establish the standards at the beginning of his post for others to follow. Something such as the following list.

1. State Facts, and declare opinions as such.
2. Back up factual statements with appropriate citations:

Yeah Roundball, I agree. this is really not necessary. Especially among friends. and though many of us have never met, we still meet on the level so-to-speak.

The standards are the same for all discussions on the Forum. They revolve around respect and common courtesy. Other than that, people are free to be themselves and speak their mind.

Yeah Claude, Everything can't be regulated. and I'm a believer in don't make a rule if you can't (or won't) enforce it. These bullets were more my wish list than anything. Still, can you imagine how much smoother a forum would flow if the contribuors followed a format similar to a debate format? I guess my type A personality is showing a bit.
I do love my structure.

I like speaking my mind......but, sometimes that sorta gets me in trouble :haha:

The old "Golden Rule" philosophy should always apply: Don't do to others what you wouldn't want them to do to you.
