Just sort of faking it is what I did for over a decade. Then I found this place and started changing things one piece at a time till I got it "right" (right is subjective LOL)

If it's not cold out I've yet to find anything better than plain ole spit!
Although I mostly use cold weather windshield wash as it has liquid soap, alcohol and water in it, all good lube and cleaner for black powder fouling control.

Spit does sound like an easy way to go.

My concern is more being able to get repeatable results and using a spit patch seems like it would ad a variable that at this point in my shooting education I don't need.

I like the convienence of having all my materials prepped in advance, one less thing to think about.

I am pleased with the results from yesterday, so I will keep on that track for the short term, hopefully get to the wood walk this weekend, meet some other addicts and learn some more.

Thank you again for all the suggestions, and as soon as funds allow I will contact Dave for his system.

Now I need a way to carry all this stuff....

Matt,
Thank you for the kind words
But,
it's only 19.95 not $25 and I don't recollect helping the Canadian ML team.
I found that the New Zealand team had been using my System.
Among all the hoohaw of my declining years the orders stopped, Dead so I guess my work here is done.
Fortunately
My printing business on its last wobbly legs has acquired a new customer so I may not have to eat my cats.

Thank you for your help producing the latest version.

Out of sheer curiosity I purchased a, yet to be delivered, crossbow. I have no place to experiment with it but it's something I always wanted to learn about.

Spit

Spit.

I find that after a few shots at the range using nothing but spit my mouth feels like the Gobi.

There are things better than spit.

No thanks. Spit is cute and all, but on a hot summer day, the last thing I want in my mouth is a dry patch to gag on.

Plus it ain't worth a spit (yes pun intended) for hunting use.

Spit is one of the best patch lubricants out the....I have won many competitions using it and recon I have probably kill near a thousand squirrels using it and numerous other game....

Spit is not applicable to all situations but it works very well. It is also a great cleaner, it is non-toxic, more natural than any product out there...easy to carry, you never run out or forget to bring it. It is also HC/PC.

:haha: if you say so.

I don't squirrel hunt and my rifle can be loaded as long as 10 days during big game season.

Spit on the range? No thanks.

Finally got some pictures of patches, things are going well with the gun.

So, I'm new to ML and have a T/C 50 (Hawken Style percussion) cal for target and big game hunting. I bought pre-lubed patches and I'm reading that it's not a good idea?

All I can tell you is what is currently working for me, try at your own risk, results may vary,

I am lubing at loading time, .495 ball, .016 pillow ticking, washed, cut at the muzzle, 60 gr. FF Goex.
Gun is hitting the 100 yard plate consistently.
