Just checked out that site Zonie, good info but not entirely accurate.
In Georgia you DO have to buy a ML license if hunting during the ML season. You don't if using ML during the regular season. Small point, but a fine and a ruined trip nonetheless.
I am not sure about now, but Colorado at one time recently required that the projectile not be over 2X the Caliber, in length. This ruled out some Saboted bullets. And seeing as how picky Colorado is, they would probably fine you $10,000. or invoke the Sampson Law and fine you $100,000. if you killed a tropy with the illegal projectile.
The point is, it is still in your best interest to get a copy of the state regs. and study them well.

Darkhorse is right. Current (2003) regs still limit the projectile length to not over 2x diameter. The Sampson law came about recently because there was a trophy size elk that used to come down out of Rocky Mountain National Park and wander around the town of Estes Park. The people of the town got used to him and nicknamed him "Sampson" because of his size. Well, a couple of years ago, Sampson was killed by a poacher. The people got so fired up about this (and rightly so) that they convinced the State Legislature to pass a law with a humongous fine for poaching trophy size animals.

Alabama has a change this year. Before this year, the muzzle loader season was during the last 15 days of the regular gun season and the only advantage was you could use a ML and kill does. Now the doe limit has changed and does are legal throughout the season, so Al. came up with a true special 3 day ML season in mid Nov. ML's ONLY during this time.
