I came across a similar spirit totem root club while searching for " William Bodenheimer gunsmith Fairfield County, Ohio " using google web search. It was in pdf format from an auction site. It had the chip carved handle and a similar color but was larger and had 3 moose heads. It was a Penobscot object.

Looking around further I see quite a few similar Penobscot animal spirit totem root clubs. I think they are nifty.

Hate to refer to an old/closed thread here. If it's not ok then mods, delete away.

Earlier there was a bit of discussion about this hawks possible use. As a giant ancient military history DORK I feel obligated to add that it looks very very very similar to weapons that have been made specifically for pulling a cavalryman off of a horse for about 2000 years.

Just my .02
