I just finished my first card woven strap and would like to use it for my powder horn. what is the best way of attaching the frayed ends to a horn. do I just take the frayed ends and tie it to the horn. thanks.

Paco,

you can just use the frayed ends to tie the strap on the horn or you can cut off the frayed ends and sew on some leather ends that allow the use of leather whangs to tie the strap to the horn.

Paco, I usually do as Harddog describes, but I just finished a horn for my daughter, and used stapeles fore and aft...I didn't like the way the leather looked, so I cut it off, and ran the strap through the staples, doubled it over, and sewed it closed with some of the wool I used in the weaving....came out OK...one of the problems was this was a pretty narrow strap, only about an inch wide...Hank

When I can have enough to work with, I try to weave or braid the frayed ends (either three or four)through the staple or around the knob on the end. If you work out your pattern correctly, you can do the weaving and incorporate the staple or knob in so it looks very nice.
