Is it safe to fire a flintlock in a blind? I’ve never hunted with my FLs in one of my pop-up blinds because I assumed the blast from the touch hole would damage the blind and/or risk injury to me or one of the kids I hunt with. But recently there’s been articles in two reputable publications that mentioned shooting deer with a FL from blinds. So am I worried about nothing or were these writers being reckless?

Yes, it turns your blind into a Cheech & Chong Movie.

Flintlock shields are required during shooting matches for safety.

I would place your child on the opposite side of the lock as a minimum. If it was me, I would not have one of my kids in the blind when shooting a flintlock.
