I traded for an older 1858 Remington that turns out the threads are stripped in the frame for the screw that holds the loading lever in place. Anyone have any suggestions? Can it be repaired?

I have a set of metric bolts. I drilled and tapped it for a larger one. Not much larger, don't remember the exact size. I then took a Dremel with the cutting wheel and cut a groove for a screwdriver. I then chucked the bolt to my drill motor and filed down the head to the size I needed. Installed it, removed it and cut off the excess of threads. Cold blued it. Works good.
