I have seen it done a couple of times. Once a ball stuck half way down a Charleville, oce a Hawken-styleI think both had powder down that had been thouroughly soaked. No harm done to either barrel. This was done after pretty much every 'puller' and less scary method had been tried. Neither barrel was harmed. Heated just enough to release the balls; didn't take much.Don’t doubt your experience, but my question was directed to @flntlokr after they recommended heating the barrel to melt a stuck bullet. Curious about their actual experience.
No advice, other than Idaho Ron’s process would be the best option if the compressed air didn’t Work.Still waiting to see your advice on the OP. It must have gotten deleted or disappeared for some reason. Please repost so we can all see it. Always good to learn from the best. Thank you.
I haven't had to. I was present when another shooter had a ball stuck half way down a Charleville. All else failed, so he heated it over his camp stove just enough to loosen the ball; no need to melt it right down. Possibly the patch burned away thus releasing the ball. It was a while ago, and my memory fails as to what came out the end.Have you personally heated a barrel hot enough to melt a stuck projectile to remove it?
