Most of my wilderness camping has been done on horseback, with a pack horses, and a dozen or so hormonal teenagers.

Essentials: A frying pan. A dutch oven. A billy-can (Made from an old coffee can and haywire). A big coffee mug. Coffee. Also, about 10' of haywire, or some other soft iron wire. It is surprising how many cooking uses wire has.

This is sad I know but when hunting, especially
deer....I always take 2 cans of canned saugeges
and at least one/usually two packages of slimjims.
snake-eyes :hmm:

Mr. snake-eyes,
Your "2 cans of canned saugeges", are they homemade or commercially available?
We ask because we are having a hard time finding a summer sausage that is not loaded with fat and so danged greasy!
Appreciate the advice.
Best Wishes
