First off I would like to thank everyone on this forum for the generosity to share their knowledge!! :applause:

I have learned a great deal here and have improved almost all aspects of my BP shooting. I have also become an addict. :shocked2: In addition to my 54 GPR I now also own a Pedersoli SXS 12 Ga. and a flint gun is on my Cristmas wish list. . . . . . . .

I know this is the hunting section, I'm getting around to it :yakyak:

I carry my GPR during the Wisconsin rifle season and have taken several deer with it. This year I was fortunate to harvest a nice little six point on opening day. The shot was about fourty yards with him facing me. Not my preffered angle but it was all he would give me. (I had passed on a fork horn earlier because I could not get a good shot)
Anyway I am confident in my accuracy at that range and took the shot. When the smoke cleared I saw him fall not thirty yards from where was hit. The ball hit right where I had intended and did its job well.

I'm the ugly one on the left

I shoot a 54 GPR, with a .530 ball, .018 patch, wonder wad and 90 grains of swiss BP. This has been a very accurate and effective load for me.

Thanks again :hatsoff:

Congrats and Waidmanns Heil from Bavaria, GE. Have ordered a GRP, too. Hope to get it soon. Who is the hunter to your left, if I may ask?

Yep RC, my friends son shot his buck, his first I may add, with a modern weapon. He has hunted hard and been very patient holding out for a buck for quite a few years. We hunt in the Nicolet National Forest with fewer deer than there is in the farmland. He took a second buck the next day, a six about like mine.(It is legal to "group hunt" during the wisconsin gun season so his father tagged it) He was a very happy young man. So far I have "converted" about half of the hunters in camp, and from the sounds of it more will be sporting "smoke poles" next year :)
