Thank you all for the comments. I’ve attached a pic of the gun. I restored an old Armi San Marco case and found the accessories to complete the presentation.

I use Hornady 44 cal balls (.451) and No. 1075 RWS caps. No wad but I use a little lube in the cylinder chambers, but not slathered all over.

I didn’t have time to do a lot of load development last trip to the range. Maybe more soon.
kh54...Awesome shootin' there. Have you considered a .454? Just curious, did you get a halo on the cylinder ports shoving the .451 in? Thanks for sharing your experience. Very inspirational. :thumb:

Thanks, Zulch. Sometimes not a full ring of lead but always some. I didn’t have .454 balls on hand or I would have tried them.

kh54 I have yet to shoot either of my Walkers. Shame on me. I need to shoot or I will most definitely have to sell them as you've stated. Shame on me. I will be shooting soon and turn in my report card. Start with 30 grains, FFF, wonder wad and .454 RB. As I said, your post is very inspiring. thank you.

I shot mine in N-SSA competition for kicks a few times. Might have to do it again at the skirmish this weekend! :)

I found best accuracy with round ball to be 45 grains 3F Goex. As someone else said, these things were definitely made to be a carbine for your hand. I have made 120-yard shots with mine, striking a 2-foot square gong. I can not do it on demand, but I have done it! At our local N-SSA skirmishes, the revolver individuals are generally set up at the far left of the firing line, and the gong is at the far right. After putting 5 shots on paper for score, I will sometimes try for the gong with the left-over shot.

Well done kh! One of these days I'll get mine out.

Every time I pick it up, it makes me laugh. It's such a monster.

Thanks everyone! The best part of this forum is all the encouragement and support that y’all give others like me. (And if I grow up I hope I can do the same.) I’m still very much a neophyte. I am never going to be a competitive shooter but boy oh boy I like to shoot this stuff. I’m now going on 30 or so revolvers in my collection and I like to try and exercise them all except for eight or nine safe queens that I’m holding onto for the investment value. I have as much fun with the little four-inch 1849 pocket (1-1/2 lb) as I do with the Walker (4-1/2 lb!). I also have a dozen or so long guns that I shoot as well. As you have all learned, there’s just a more satisfying pace and overall experience to carefully loading and shooting BP firearms. A couple dozen rounds at the range are way more fun than ten times that number with modern guns, especially the automatic variety.

Thanks again for the encouragement!
