Dried corn and dried beans- seems like you could cook this on the trail. Any documentation? Any idea how the Indians actually made their succotash?

I am not sure if this is what your looking for, but it might help.

My recipe for dried Beef stew;

Bag of frozen mixed vegetables
lb lean venison or beef cut into about 1/2” squares

Dry mixed vegetables in dehydrator. Next: Soak meat in stake sauce over night, pat dry, place in dehydrator and dry. Store in jar in freezer.
To rehydrate place dried Beef stew in pot add seasoning you like cover stew with water and boil till tender.

I have eaten this dehydrator frozen beef stew that was a year old.

I've heard about the meat being added. I was just wondering if anyone in reading historical documents came across any succotash references.
