So I did make a few changes to my order! Thanks again for all the great info! Greatly appreciated! I now have a 13.5 length of pull and a Siler lock, I kept the straight barrel as somehow I feel it suits the rifle, and also I used plain wood as I’m thinking the dark stain will pretty much cover up the wood anyway

Funny how time changes things...
Ten years ago when I decided to build an Isaac Haines early Lancaster with a 40 cal straight barrel I was scolded and eviscerated for the mere mention of a straight barrel.

I felt like I had took a whizz in the holy chalice. I refused to post a single picture of the work- in- progress because I didn't want the hassle.

I'm very happy with my 42" 13/16" 40 caliber rifle. I MAY try a swamped barrel on my next rifle just to see what the fuss was about.

Im also happy to report most of those curmudgeons didn't make the transition to the new website owner or simply moved on. To say I'm thrilled is an understatement.

We don't have to agree, but there's no reason to be disagreeable.

I find a 3/4” x 38” ish straight .40 or .36 to be light as a feather with just enough weight out there to keep sway to a minimum. 13/16” would be similar but heavier so I’d keep it as short as possible. I just ordered a 5/8” x 38” x .29 cal. Can’t wait.
Bob where do you find a 29 cal.?

I forgot to say why I built a .40 with a 42" 13/16" GM barrel.

I clicked on eBay to do my usual search of B/P stuff and stumbled on a brand new GM barrel that had just been posted a few minutes before. It was $75 and $10 shipping if I remember correctly, I couldn't hit the buy it now button fast enough,.

I hit another jackpot on a NOS brand new, stripped down but it had the breech, TC kit barrel in .54, it was $65 and a few bucks for shipping. I built a Renegade with a L&R RPL lock around the barrel.

I ordered my TVM on Feb 24, 2020, and was told 6 months wait time which I was perfectly fine with. Covid hit, and I knew it would be kicked back. Melanie at TVM ( a very fun & sassy lady) always kept me updated with potential delays. I received my TVM Late Lancaster .40 cal on 9/20/2020. I am completely happy with this gun, and the service provided by TVM. My next gun will be a Iron Pennsylvania in .54 from TVM. (Trying to sell some guns for financing this project)

The very first rifle I got from TVM was close to a years wait. I guess it varies due to how much business they have.
