Swiss does burn FASTER and some what hotter so you can reduce a typical Goex charge by AT LEAST 10% when using Swiss. NO, I don't work for Swiss! I have made a point of trying most of the powders available over the past three years and Swiss is just stronger, faster and cleaner than anything else I have ever used. I now shoot Swiss 3f in ALL my flintlocks from my .45 caliber rifles up to and including my .62 caliber smoothbore Fusil de chasse and it just works great in all of them. I use Swiss 2f in my .75 caliber Brown Bess. I also use Swiss 3f for priming. Is it more expensive? Yes, it is. Is it sometimes harder to find? Yes, it is. I like it because it performs so well and allows me to only carry ONE grade of black powder out to the range most days (and Lord knows I have to carry enough with me as it is). Having said all that, are Goex, OE and others good powders? Sure they are and less expensive too but, when it comes to black powders (as in almost everything) you do get what you pay for.
