I just received a SxS Pedersoli 20 gauge Flintlock Fowler. Much to my dismay the front trigger will not pull to release the ****. My thought is the trigger was in the wrong position when the lock was installed. I have asked Dixie Gun Works if I may try to fix it or send it back for them to repair/replace. Any other thoughts on what might cause this?

I think Historian has your answer. The trigger and sear and not engaging on that side - my thoughts also.:thumb:

Several variables could cause this issue. Simple to more complex. If you decide to work on this issue.... first remove the right lock ( should be the one released by the front trigger but verify by observation)
Look for any loose material or wood impediment issues. Check to see if lock works out of the gun for starters. This is where I would start and then go from there. Talk to the gang here if you have questions.
Good luck

You have the presumably working one on the left barrel. Take both off and compare side by side. You should be able to spot the difference and can then decide if it’s a simple fix or something that you will need assistance to fix.

Thanks for everyones suggestions and encouragement. I pulled both locks and the right sear is just too stiff. The rear trigger for the left lock is near the rear of the trigger guard bow. It will release the **** occasionally. I have a hand full of Pedersoli's and have never experienced such poor quality control. I'm sending it back in hopes of receiving a new gun without issues.

I should have followed up on this post long ago. I sent the receiver with the locks back to Dixie Gun Works. Jamie, their gunsmith, did an excellent job on the triggers. Not as good as those found on a Parker Shotgun, but close enough. Just can't say enough good things about that outfit.
