Friends, our 2nd Amendment rights are always under attack and the NRA has been a constant for decades in helping fight that fight.
We have partnered with the NRA to offer you a discount on membership and Muzzleloading Forum gets a small percentage too of each membership, so you are supporting both the NRA and us.
I purchased this ML that was still in the box, Never fired. as said it is a .45 cal with 32 inch barrel and 66 twist. Opinions, and load information would be appreciated. Great Price,
Start at 45 gr. of real bp, I reccomend 3Fg using a lubed patch and lead round ball. Tons of other considerations also involved. Stick around this forum and do searches here for most of those "tons". Good luck, enjoy.
I have a 1:66 42" 45 cal (Rice) and agree - start at 45 grains or so and work your way up in 5 grain increments.
I shoot 70 grains of FFF as my hunting load - have never exceeded 80 grains (when working it up).
I do keep my range short (nothing past 80 with 50 more "realistic") so never saw the need to really try and stretch it out.
You can safely go upwards of 90 grains (Seneca)/110 grains (Hawken) with a PRB (T/C manual) and 80/100 grains (Seneca/Hawken 45 cals) with a 240 grain Maxi - although, with the slow twist barrel the Maxi may or may not shoot worth a manure.
If you feel the need to shoot something other than a roundball I have ran a half dozen 200 grain REAL's through the 1:66 twist and got OK results @ 50 yards.
