Hey everyone,
I just won an auction for what appears to be a 50 caliber T/C hawken barrel, presumably from a kit, still in the white and in unfired condition according to the seller. it is missing the under rib and thimbles, sights, and the clean out screw in the breech. What size/thread pitch is this clean out screw? can an allen/hex screw be placed there? Is it recommended to be loctited in? I have never removed this screw on my 45 caliber barrel, and just remove the nipple and siphon hot soapy water to clean out that one. Other parts are a non-issue, as this will be a project to finish off what I started a few years back with my original refinish project (strip/refinish the stock, antiqued all brass parts with Birchwood Casey "Brass Black"). I am also planning on putting a non-adjustable buckhorn sight like I have on my 45 cal barrel.
