I bought this Hawken from a fellow member of this forum and it is in very good condition with a like-new bore. This was a kit he bought and had a builder in Las Vegas put together for him. If you saw his ad on this forum he was selling the Hawken with a period scope. He agreed to separate the scope and sell me the rifle. From the pictures you can see that he had a dovetail cut just back of the sight, It' not very noticable. He said the dovetail was .360 for a T/C Hawken, but I believe it is .350. I bought the rifle with good intentions and then got introduced to flint. I've never shot this rifle. I'm asking $325 or close offer including shipping to within the conUS.

I'm new to the forum. I haven't shot black powder in 40 years, and whatever I buy will be a wall hanger. I live in California, and don't know the laws for muzzleloaders. Can you mail it directly to me or does it have to go to a dealer first? Last year I bought a shotgun and after the dealer and state gouged me it cost me almost double. Anyhow I am interested and can pay with paypal. Let me know.

Jerry as far as I know I can send you a black powder rifle to California. But I just sent you a PM with some details. Let me know what you find out. Thank you

Longtime california resident here. It is completely legal for you to buy the subject T/C Hawken and get it delivered directly to you in california.

If you look at Cabela's website you will see there are no restrictions on traditional black powder firearms. Lawyers wrote / review this for Cabela's.

Rather than paypal suggest you pay with a USPS postal money order. Seller goes to post office who verify postal money order is good and cash it. Seller then can mail or ship the Hawken directly to you.

My understanding is paypal's policy for complete firearms is that paypal does not provide any buyer protection and may cancel the transaction unless money is sent as a gift.

Robert you are correct regarding PayPal. I had that happen one time and it was a mess. Thanks for the info on sending a BP to California. I had recommended to Jerry to pay by USPS M.O.

I forgot about the PayPal firearms policy. I can mail a check, and you can mail it directly to me. I hope you'll insure it. I will need an address and don't know if I can post my email address on this forum. Let me know.

Jerry, in the upper right hand corner of this forum you will see an envelope symbol, if you click it you should have my name and address. However, you can post your email address and I can answer back that way too. I will of course need your name and address, and we can either use the email address you send, or you can click on my two elks name here which will take you to the private messages section, click on "start a conversation" and a box will open up that you can send me a message with your mailing info. Thanks.

I tried to post something, as directed, and was sent to a different site, so I tried again, and I believe you have a message waiting.

Just for information, there are no rules against posting E-Mail addresses in the Classified section but I don't recommend doing it. Anyone, world wide can see what you post and if your like me, you get enough mail from people you don't know.

Likewise, a person can post their address but that can have dangerous consequences.

The best way to carry out the details of a sale on the forum is to use the Conversations private mail method. No one but the people in a PM can read what is said.

If you don't get a red number in the little envelope in the upper right hand area of the screen indicating that you have a message, check the settings in your "home" for the forum.
Be sure to hold your cursor over the image of a little man, next to the envelope. Select "Contact Details". Make sure the little box next to "Accept conversations from...." is checked and the tag under it says, "Members Only".

If you start a Conversation with someone, make sure it has a name in the Title box. Without a name, the message won't be entered.

You just did. :)

Actually, only a moderator or an administrator like Angie can change the marking to SOLD.

I think the best way to do it is for the seller to just say the item is sold in a new post in the ad.

I review these Classified ad's several times a day and if the seller has posted that the item is sold, then I do my 'thing'. :)
