I have a T/C Hawken 54 caliber that has a 24 inch barrel. I bought it used several years ago, and have never seen another one like it. The Hawken always has a 28 inch barrel, and the Renegade has what - a 26 inch barrel?

Anybody shed any light on this?

Hi DPH, welcome aboard!

Does it say Thompson on the barrel? I know that Cabelas is selling a carbine version of the Investarms Hawken and the barrels are interchangable with the T/C. If it's a T/C barrel, maybe someone had it cut down?

Plink,
I have the Cabela's Investarms carbine.
It has a 21" barrel that is 1/24twist. I have
shot it maybe 50 or 60 times in 5 years. With
PRB at 50 yards and 60grns 3fff goex it is all
I can do to keep it on the paper. At 25 yards
maybe 2" groups. I don't like the way it shoots,
(most likely just me) but I won't get rid of it
because I just like the way it looks. :hmm:
snake= :hatsoff: eyes

If its a TC hawken it will have a patch box. Investarms patch box has wood around the lid, between the lid and outer ring. TC don't.Sounds like barrel is too long fot a White MT carbine. I think they were like 22 inches. Dilly

It says, "Thompsom/Center Arms, Rochester, New Hampshipe 54 CAL HAWKEN".

I remember searching T/C's website several years ago, and not finding any information on it. It doesn't appear to have been cut down - if so, a very professional job was done. It looks like it came from the factory in it's present size.

I am intersted to know if T/C did make a run of 24 inch Hawkens, or possibly this was a custom model or prototype.

TIA,
Dave

It has the patch box without the ring of wood that forign made Hawkens usually have. The barrel says Thompson/Center 54 Cal. HAWKEN.

Hey, Snake-eyes,

Have you tried conicals in that thing, minies or maxis, etc? If so, how does it shoot with those?

Thanks!
Liam

I like the looks of the carbine too, but I haven't tried one yet. I doubt I'll buy one, but it sure looks to be a nicely balanced brush gun. Too bad it isn't shooting better for you.

I recall seeing a T/C Hawken just like this at a gun show several years back. If it hadn't been in such awful condition I would have bought it. I asked the owner if he had shortened the barrel and he said it had come from the factory that way. I don't know of T/C ever having produced such a carbine but it may very well have happened, as I didn't know anything about their "Express" model either until I bought one.

There was a 24" barrelled Hawken for sale on Track of the Wolf not long ago. I had never heard of one prior to that.

Apparently there must have been a run of 24 inch Hawkens at some point. It would interesting to learn how many were made.
