I have a .50 cal T/C Hawken that I got at an auction. It has a very deep blued finish on the metal and excellent figured and highly polished wood, possibly walnut. On the barrel it says, ".50 Cal Hawken Custom XXV" in a script style.

I believe it's a special issue 25th Anniversary gun, but T/C's customer service has never answered any of my emails or phone messages about the gun.

I also have a T/C White Mountain Carbine in .54 cal and a New Englander in .50 cal.

TC was formed in 1967 and had their 25th COMPANY anniversary in 1992, comemmorated with a special run of 5000 high grade Hawken "Cougar" models...presentation grade walnut and all non-glare stainless furniture.

The Hawken itself was first introduced in 1970 and the TC Hawken 25th anniversary was 1995, with the words "25th Anniversary" stamped on the right side of the barrel.

TC made a special run of Hawken variants about every 5 years...the Hawken Custom that you reference was a one time special run of 2500 and is featured in TC's 1994 catalog.

That's a great looking gun. I saw one like it on the TOW website not too long ago.

roundball - Thank you
In the late 90's I was selling a Marlin 336/.30-30 and a guy contacted me wondering if he could trade a new Hawken Custom...he had won it in a raffle drawing and had no interest in muzzleloaders...I agreed and we traded.

When I got it, it was pretty of course, but I realized that high gloss mirror finish would scratch up with every bush that dragged across it while out hunting...so I never even fired it, just turned around and put it up for sale.

I have three and a half TCs. I have my original TC Hawken, circa 1975, in .50 cal and a .45 cal GM RB barrel for it. My other two are .54's, one old and one recently acquired NIB. All are caplocks and fantastic guns. The half... well it is a 1982 vintage, untouched, .50 flinter kit, acquired just a couple of weeks ago. The barrel was still sealed in the plastic bag as were the other parts. Hoping to find time to finish it. In the mean time, the lock and barrel will probably find there way into my other .50 Hawken

TC Hawken 50 cal kit I put together many years ago. I gave it to my father so he could have some fun also.
I am currently looking for a TC 54 in flint lock.

I have a 50 cal Hawkin,I bought it in 1990, from a guy that was getting out of black powder. I use it for hunting deer and elk. A couple of years ago, I was at a ronde, when a friend came into my camp to ask me about a problem his son was having with his gun. To mke a long story short I loaned him mine. Now mind you this young man (12 or 13) was just starting to shoot and had never seen my gun before, I just told him it was a tack driver..He came home with every first prize in his age group..Needless to say I could have sold it then and there. But I've still got it.. Just talked with this young man three days ago. He had just came back from a shoot, and had won several prizes. He is hooked.

I have one .50 cal. Hawken, restocked with a Pecatonica River Curly Maple stock and a .54 cal. Hawken that was built from a kit.

We're a bunch of T/C shooters here. BTW two uncles, my Dad and I:

Two New Englanders, .50 and .54 w/ 12 gauge barrel
Cherokee .36
Two Senecas, .36 and .45
Renegade, .50, with a GM 60 smoothbore
White Mountain, .50
Dad's Hawken, .50
My Hawken, w/ GM 50 and 32
Uncles 4 Hawkens, 32, 40, 45, 50

All total 13 complete rifles.

I don't have so much. I have a Renegade in .50 with a NIB Toledo 12 gauge barrel to match, and a .45 Hawken. I had another Renegade, but it had to go.

I would rather have a .54 than the .50 barrel though...

Had a .54 Renegade. Now have two Hawkens one flint one percussion, both .50.Now I'd like to have more barrels for them in .54 or .58 and a .36. :hatsoff:

Gents,

I only have one a T.C. 50 cal. Hawken and except for the trigger guard, I love it, wouldn't trade it for much of anything.

I don't have a hawken yet but have a 54 renegade and two seneca's and two cherokee's. TC made the best muzzleloaders and it is a shame that they don't make anything traditional except the 50 caliber hawken.

A buddy and I each bought a 50 Cal TC Hawken in the mid 1970’s. Factory build models not a kit. Shot them in competition for years. We shot 50 yards most of the time. Competition was at least once a month, practice was 2 to 3 times a week in the summer months. For many years both rifles shot with-in 2 inch groups (if we could hold it there - off-hand.) Then all of all of a sudden the groups went to 6 inch (after about ten years of shooting). We tried everything- bigger ball, different patches. For some reason even on a bench hold the groups were bigger than previous 2 inch groups. I sent mine off to somewhere in Texas and had the rifling cut a little deeper. Mine then shot back to the two inch groups (or better, if I could keep it there). The buddy never could figure out why I got mine to shoot better than his. He tried everything to get his back to tighter groups - never made it. He would load and shoot mine and get the 2 inch groups.
The only modifications I made to the rifle were
1. Filed the front sight to a thin post (made the round part look like a the supporting post). 2. Removed and polished the trigger assembly. (Just emery cloth and stoned the
sides of the parts so no rough surfaces rubbed.) 3. Switched ram rods. 4. Later had the grooves deepen (after many many shots). I still have it, I don’t shoot it like I used to as I do a flintlock mostly now. If I start screwing around with it again”¦. I think I would buy a different barrel. The new drop in barrel would be longer than 28 inches. 32 inches, if I could get it and perhaps a 54 Cal. (Just to have a different caliber than the 50.)

I have one T/C Hawken I put together back in '92 I guess it was. It was my first ML and was a kit my grandfather gave me. I've since replaced the stock with one from Pectonica River and am looking into getting another barrel for it.

I have an older 54 cal tc hawken with a 32 gm ibs barrel a renegade in 54 cal my deer gun, and a renegade single trigger orignaly 50 cal put on a gm smooth bore 62 cal barrel, love them all. I want to get more.

I have a Renegade with a T/C 50 BARREL, 45 32",54 32", 58 32" 62 sb 32" ALL G/R Barrels love them all.use one stock.

Because of this post I put a used kit hawken on layaway yesterday at my dealers. Factory ones were going for $350 and this kit one was $250 so I put it away it is browned instead of blued. Can't wait to see how it shoots. It is in 50 caliber so I have to still find a 54 as I like them better but have never shot a 50 so who knows I may just get another 50 and forget the 54 as I have a 54 renegade and just love it.
