I have a friend that picked up an old style T/C Hawken kit, at a song and dance its his first build , but there's no paper work on how to, looking on line and thru past post I find nothing. Does someone have the paper work on how to build it. Even photos and I'll send you my phone number to text me. Anything will be greatly appreciated.

Get one of building books. This would be Dixon's "The Art of Building The Pennsylvania Longrifle" or Alexander's "The Gunsmith of Grenville County". While these don't cover the hooked breech that well, the fitting of the triggers, lock, thimbles, wedges, barrel and finishing are much better than the booklet that came with the T/C rifle. The book on Black powder gunsmithing: Walker, Ralph T: 9780695809430: Amazon.com: Books is one of the best with information on the building of many of the kits offered in the 1970's. I've referred to it many times since I bought it when I was building my T/C Hawken.

Pretty simple build, but TC did provide instructions. I know I have, or should have a scanned copy of what TC included with their kits around 1980, that I provided someone in the past. I’ll check for it on my PC later tonight when I get home. Don’t remember if it’s 6 or 8 pages, but I should be able to post it here.

Send me a PM with an email address and I’ll send you a pdf copy of TC’s Hawken Kit instructions. The pdf just doesn’t seem to want to load here.

Thank everyone we'll figure it out

Sorry. Didn't know you were so thin skinned. TC kits are just about like Legos. Ain't but one place for anything to go & only one way for it to go there. And cynthialee pretty well outlined what order to install them. The ONLY challenging parts are finishing the metal and the wood and the instructions ain't gonna help you there. Just be sure to have the patchbox, buttplate, and nosecap installed when sanding the stock so you don't round off all the corners. Only take them off for final polishing of these pieces. And use the cheap steel screws while working on it & only use the brass screws for final assembly.

My comment was merely an illustration of how minimal is the skill-set required for a TC kit assembly. Didn't mean to blow yer dress up.

Not for me it his first build, and not that mechanic included.

it is easy to misconstrue the true tone of something written on these pages. though some have an abrupt way of saying things they mean no disrespect by it. there are a few posters that tend to anger me with what i perceive as condescending, but they still offer a nut of wisdom.
react negatively and others may be hesitant to offer exactly what information you need. ymmv

addendum. You probably won't find anyone here more knowledgeable of TC's than Bubba
