A friend gave me tc renegade he never cleaned it and I think it's bore is pretty bad. It's a .54 can it be reboard to .58? It's in great shape otherwise. Also any ideas on a peep sight for it?

clean it good & shoot it before you decide the bore is bad. most of the time they can be salvaged to at least be huntin' accurate.

the Lyman 57sml peep is likely yer best bet. needs just a bit of spacer to use on Renegades or a little file work on the bottom of the sight base. T/C made dinky little hard to adjust sights that are a bit more compact but, since they quit makin'em prices on them have gone plumb stupid.

pkarr,
After cleaning up the bore, the limit on how big is how deep the screw holes are for the under rib and the rear sight.
I have a .58 that was once a crusty .54 so from my experience it worked ok on mine.

Yup, that's the key. I had Bobby Hoyt turn mine into a 62 smoothy,, but his issue is the depth of those holes.
T/C did not use care when drilling and tapping those holes, some went too deep.
Bobby said;
"If any of those holes are over .125 (1/8")I can't make the bore any bigger." The problem is mostly with the rear sight.
I used a tiny dowel (round toothpick cut flat) and caliper to measure mine before I sent it out,, mine was good.
