Goex (real black powder) is generally preferred by most in the traditional guns. Less corrosive than a lot of the synthetic powders and ignites easier.

As for that renegade, that's one of my favorite factory rifles. You don't have to worry about a cheekrest slapping you in the face or a crescent butt stock biting your shoulder. They are pretty reasonably priced and are great platforms for about anything you could expect out of one.

I hope you mean that you where using the bathroom scale to measure the loading pressure that the ram rod was applying to the load, to compress the powder.
