I just picked up a Thompson/Center .50cal White Mountain Carbine. I am having trouble finding any information on this rifle. Does anybody know the twist rate and what years this model was made? Does anyone have any experience shooting this model. I have not had a BP rifle for about 15 years and since it was only $100, I thought it was a good time to get another one. Thanks for your help!

The first couple of years the .50 cal WMC was produced with a 1-20 twist then they switched to a 1-38 twist. I had a 4 digit ser# that was a 1-20 twist. Nice handy gun. You can mark a cleaning rod and using a tight patch count the revolutions as you push the rod down to get the twist rate.

There are a number of previous threads here on this rifle so you might want to do a search.

Get ready for some fun. Mine is my first major investment in BP. I contacted TC and was informed that I could download their instruction manual. It gives a list of all of their "traditional" firearms the manual covers.

It especialy love conicals

I own a TC WMC. Curently my load is 80 gr of FFF with a TC maxi hunter and a lubed op wad.Beacause of the short barrel I limit my range to 50 yds. What loads are have you found to be effective?

couple of yrs ago I picked up a used WMC for my daughter. previous owner shortened the stock and installed a recoil pad. My daughter is of slight stature. She killed her first deer last fall w/it. 70yds approx 70gr 3f goex, 275gr maxi-hunter. Gonna up the load this yr, and see what happens. Thinking 75-80gr 3f goex or swiss and more lead!!
