The folks at TVM do a real good job, and for the money make one of the best if not the best guns on the market. In addition they stand behind what they make, and are always available for questions or such. I have shot several of their guns and they are all quite accurate, as well as putting my own together from a kit back in 1991. I must have spent 10 or better hours on the phone with them and they practically walked me through some of the steps I was confussed on. As far as I'm concerned that's customer support above and beyond.

I have a Southern Mtn. .50 flint lock. My pard has a
Lancaster both by TVM. Very fine rifles for the dollar.
Some say the big Siler is not correct for the Southern
but it works great. Of course the Chambers WL vent was not around in the old days. It now has one. Buy it you'll like
it.
Redwing

I got 2 one lancaster and a virginian. Love them both. Good shooter, great service, very nice to deal with....If I can scratch the $$$$ may get a 3rd.

Gemoke,

The TVM Grand is made by Jack Garner of Tenn. Valley Manufacturing -- not Matt Avance of Tenn Valley Muzzleloading. I have seen the normal work by both operations and found them both to be very good for the money. I have one of Avance's guns and like it. I have not actually handled a Grand.

Gemoke,

There's some photos of Matt Avance's work on this thread http://www.muzzleloadingforum.com/ubbthr...mp;page=0#99727

My TVM "early Virginia" has a number of features of the Grand Rifle. I am very happy, especially with the workmanship and durability of the finish.

When I talk about Grand Rifle I mean the one advertised by Matt Avance - maybe Jack Garner makes one too, I don't know.

Regards,
Greg

Correction is needed here. The Grand rifle IS made by TVM and mine have Matt Avance's signature on the barrel. Check their web sight if you are in doubt. VERY fine rifles from Tennessee Valley Muzzleloading!!! Steve Jones

Keg,

Okay, I just contacted Toni Avance and was informed that you are right. There is a Grand which is produced by Matt Avance and can be seen at:
http://www.avsia.com/tvm/grand.htm

However, Jack Garner is back in business as Tenn Valley Manufacturing and offers mostly kits, but has some finished guns at:
http://www.tennesseevalleymanufacturing.com/

These are all good people from my experience.

I bought a used Grand Rifle last year, mostly because it was a custom rifle, and was a left hand 54 flinter! Mine is an early gun and was the result of the collaboration of G.L. Jones and Jack Garner. It is signed on the top barrel flat "Jones and Garner Grand Rifle", the stock and furniture is nicely carved and engraved. The rear sight is a 5-3/4" long base adjustable semi-buckhorn, the serial number 2X engraved on the tang. The rifle has a 42" long barrel and a sliding patch box cover. All in all, I am very pleased with the rifle. And yes, I do shoot it. Emery
