My 12 year-old son and I both took five-pointers during the early muzzleloading season - I got mine on Friday while he was in school, we got his the following morning (his was bigger). This was my first deer with a flintlock smoothbore and no rear sight, his first with a muzzleloader.
I took a little doe with archery tackle the following week - then, on opening day of modern gun season this past Saturday, I shot a decent little seven-point. I used a percussion gun on this last one, it being modern gun season and all.
That's it for me - three deer limit here in Arkansas, so I'm done. Plenty of meat for the winter, and I'm taking the meat from the seven point to an old friend who can't get out for health reasons.
Don't know what to do with myself now ) guess I'll have to chase tree rats or something. What a great year, hope everybody else is as lucky as I have been.

Sounds good... :hatsoff: ...now you can get after some squirrels with that smoothbore !

Mark:
Congratulations to you and your son. And hats off to you for helping out an ailing friend with some venison. :hatsoff:

Congrats to the freezer being full. Like it was said before, it's great to help others with venison who can't get out. My Dad and brothers have been shooting deer for people who don't hunt for the last 6 years. It's a win-win for everyone. I get to go hunting and the others get to eat venison when the don't hunt.

Well, heck, into every life a little rain must fall. :youcrazy:
Ain't y'all got any hogs in Arkansas? That's what we look for when we've got ourself in yore pityful condition. :rotf:

Mark,
Congratulations to you and your son! Hope my
son and I do as well the end of the month.

Congrats on the successful season. Sounds like the Boy does well. What a great feeling.

Congrats on some fine hunts, Mark! My brother moved to Arkansas a couple years ago. I've been interested in how the hunting is there. It sounds great!
