Going to try a TC tang mount sight. Looking for suggestions on how to protect the tang finish from the metal on metal contact from the sight base.

Thanks Much

Put whatever wax or rust protectant on the tang and don’t worry about. If you remove the sight at a later date and decide the tang wasn’t protected enough, the tang comes out of the stock by removing two screws and can easily be refinished.

In the past I have used a thin piece of plastic such as old credit/debit card and cut a shim the shape of the sight base to go between it and the tang.

I've always used 2 layers of black electrical tape -- and you can trim it with sharp scissors to match the base; pre-cut holes with a hole punch as needed. Works great!
