$6 For a tin aint thet bad.You are getting a 100 shots out of a tin.We only pay 5$ here but you are in a Booming economy.

:rotf: This thing has been around forever!!! we used to use a punch to form them and a strike anywhere match head to fire them. This was back when matches would ignite any place any time. gone are those days. Bob

I have it and have used it. All my guns, except a few will work with them. Nice to have. Dilly

I have one. When I had limitless time I used it. It takes two caps to get enough poop. Sometimes the roll caps pop when you cut them out. I would not spend much money on one.

I think you would be better off buying the plastic (percussion cap looking} caps from a toy store. They work fine as is.

Frankly, just get a flinter. Learn to knap, rocks are free! The only advantage I can see to a cap gun is using fake powder if necessary. You will find these jury riged caps and toy store caps don't light your Pryro-poop or whatever very well. That takes good caps, or even better musket caps, to be totaly reliable. You can fuss with primers but I think that is a bother. Musket caps do not fragment and make tons of flame. You can buy a musket cap nipple that will screw right in. They are less "fumbly" to deal with. I find I need a capper these days for #11s.

I had one back about 1980 and used it till it wore out. Must have made 2000 or so. Here is my advice

1. It can be fun making your own caps....for a while. Then it is tiresome.

2. If time is money, you aren't saving anything. I was a student with few funds and some time to kill, so it worked out for me back then.

3. Don't rely on them. I think they had about a 75-80% sucess rate. OK for plinking.

4. When they fail, they shoot paper down the nipple and don't set off the charge. To set the gun off, you then need to use the hottest production cap you can find to burn past the paper.

Good Luck, Have Fun
