where could or what can i buy for a barrel thats better rifled for the 58 caliber springfield musket? The zoili that i have isnt really a target rifle and its just seems to be made for good nuff but i want a tighter deep rifled barrel...any ideas?

Send it to Bobby Hoyt for a reline. His liners usually about .577", 1 in 60" but they are rifled for minies and won't be a lot deeper than what you have. He can line it for round ball if that's what you want.
ok ill give hima call..it shoots roundballs fairly accurate now but i want 100 yards with the bullets that i made ,,thank you hawkeye 2

You don't want it deeper for minies.

As for the Zoli, take time to do load development. I've seen more than one Zoli that is competitive on the National level. Past that, you're going to have to have Hoyt reline or have Whitacre make a new one.

You’re right, it’s not a target rifle but a military rifle intended to be used with Minie bullets. They work with shallow rifling - I shoot an original .577 Enfield that has progressive depth rifling (it gets shallower from breech to muzzle). So far this year I have won a 200 yard offhand match and a 500 yard prone match with it - with load development they can be used for target shooting. It’s not altogether clear from your posts what bullets you are using, but changing to a ‘tighter deep rifled barrel’ may not bring you the results you seek. It may also limit you to patched round ball and the relatively short distances that ball will remain accurate for.

THE bullets i use are some from a lyman mold ...hollow base and 4 grease grooves and are pointed pretty good.THE round balls are more accurate. This is going to take some tweaking to get all the stars to line up...but thats what i like...VERY good Reasearch press YOUR shooting good doing the 200 yard and 500.
