I called the T/C custom shop about 6-9 months ago about the shotgun barrel and they were still selling them for around $150.00-200.00.

Not sur if they are still available or not.

Jerem0621,I thought TC's Custom Shop was shut down a long time ago.At least that's what the internet said LOL! :hmm:

Checked their site and sure enough, their not taking anymore barrel order's and don't know when they will open it again (for now)... Look's like you buy what is available or buy a standard shotgun.... :td:

Thanks stumpkiller cannot wait to get it to the range and try get out, bought mine as kit Gun as well so the fun is just begining..

I have two New Englanders, one a 12ga and the other a new not yet assembled kit in 50cal.The shotgun version is a lot of fun , someday I ll have to get around to putting the other gun together though I can still use the rifle barrel in my shotgun.

I have one in 54 cal. I own fancier guns, but the plain Jane New Englander gets lots more field time than it "deserves" in the eyes of folks that care about looks. It may be simple, but it's sure accurate and comfortable to carry. I'll pounce on a 12 gauge barrel when the op arises, but I'm not pushing for it.

I didn't realize these were so popular. My first TC was a .50 Grey Hawk for MLer hunting in bad weather. I later bought a .50 New Englander and then a 12ga choke tube barrel for it. I've shot the 12ga a bit and it works well. Since then I've bought a like new .54 barrel for the Grey Hawk, a 12ga Tree Hawk with cylinder bore, and a .50 White Mountain Carbine. I wanted a cylinder bore 12ga barrel for shooting PRBs, so bought the like new Tree Hawk for "barrel price". I have the hunting tang sights on the Grey Hawk and WMC.

Too, I have .45, .58, and .62 custom flinters and a .50 Dixie Tn Mtn rifle in flint. The flinters are "fair weather" only.

As much as I feel a flinter needs to be "correct", I don't feel the same way about percussion guns. I like these TCs for their utility.

Just curious. Any particular reason that you don't care for the rifle version? Is it a question of stock fit, or something else such as the lack of a set trigger or etc.?

Not knowing what ebiggs reason is , but I find them to be barrel heavy compared to the 15/16" Hawken. Probably just a personal balance thing. I just picked one up with hopes of finding or fitting a shotgun barrel. The 50 cal barrel that came on it has some pitting toward the muzzle so I may shorten it to 20" and put a tang sight on it for my grandson.

I love my little New Englander. It has put two on the ground for me this year, including this little 7 point last thursday.

I shot a Lyman GPR before this one and the difference in weight was enough for me to be happy with it.

Nice deer Brian!

My two T/Cs are a New Englander and a Renegade. If I had to pick one it would be the New Englander. Lighter and handier. Single trigger works better for my tastes and the .50/12 ga is the best idea ever.

Mine has fed us many times over as the rifle I use during regular gun season until recently. Now I'm addicted enirely to flintlocks but keep the NE as a loaner and just because I like it.

My only ever kit gun I built in 1988.

BrianL - Some tasty venison right there!
What load were you using?

Stumpkiller - Your off hand groups look very impressive! I think I'll gicer your load a try when I get mine.

As for the N.E. I just purchased on last sunday online.....it wears a synthetic stock
though...I'll just tell folks its wood painted black ;)

Stumpy, I was going back through some old posts yesterday and I think it was the guy who uses the name "makumsmoke" had a flinter New Englander he made up. Hope that helps.

That would be "makeumsmoke". IIRC, the side of the patent breech had to be removed, a touch hole liner installed, and adding the flint lock. The flint and percussion locks should be interchangeable.

Stumpkiller--

I have a T/C New Englander 12 ga and would like to get a 50 cal barrel. Any ideas where to look ?
