Well you all know dat I was having problems wiff my tc hawken not grouping , well diss morning , I tried something different , called my friend to see if he had some larger rb and thicker patchs , no go there he shots a 50 and uses .018 pillow tick :cursing: . So I had a worn out blue jeans , so made some patchs . Diss is my load .530 homecast ball whichs mikes at .528 , blue jean patch mikes at .030 , and my homemade super lube , 90grains of ffg . Around here no muzzleloader supplys so have to order online, so i used what i had . At 25 yards shooting off the bench , had one flyer all the other shots one ragged hole , but it loaded hard , had to use a rubber mallet , and I swabbed between shots wiff windex, found patchs dat was shot , one patch was shreded . Would a .020 patch be better or a .535 rb ?

If I remember correctly, TC rifling is shallower than Rice, Getz, etc. So, a thinner patch and a larger ball might do the same thing.

The crown on your TC may need some smoothing. I have a muzzle that will get a crown job so that I can load tighter without a short starter (.530 ball/.019" patch in a Rice). In your case a nicely shaped crown may make the mallet unnecessary. I haven't seen a TC crown in a while, so the TC guys here may be able to make suggestions.

Pletch

I would think the flyer came about as a result of the blown patch. Dont cut patching material from the part of your jeans worn from the snuff can!

lol it wasnt , i carry my snuff can in my shirt pocket , the patchs came from the lower leg by the boot .
