TC Hawken parts interchangeability?

So it looks like some guys are buying guns, stripping them down and selling the parts on the auction site. I get it, make more $ that way, but many of these guys don't seem to know what gun they have. What do we need to watch for with the TC Hawken? Aside from the obvious things, how close are all the parts? Is there a vast difference between a 70's gun and a late 80's one, or an "after the warning" one?

Not much difference in the TC percussion guns except for the barrel marking and the late TC's had their Quick Load muzzle on them.
Some of the later TC percussion barrels also had Heli-Coil thread inserts installed in the nipple hole. These were installed by the factory to fix a machining problem that existed for a short period of time.

The early TC flintlocks, locks tended to bash flints on the frizzen which caused the flints to not last long. These were redesigned late in the TC years by replacing the cock and the frizzen. The pictures below show the differences.
This is the old flintlock style.

Also, at one time TC set trigger's did not have a hole in them for the tang screw. This was later changed so the tang screw screws into the trigger plate at the front.

It is my understanding that the .45 and .50 Hawken has a 15/16 across the flats barrel. The .54 and larger have a 1 inch across the flats barrel.
I've heard that the Renegade used a 1 inch across the flats barrel regardless of caliber, and that the Renegade barrel was/is two inches shorter (at least for a time) than the Hawken barrel.

Personally, I'd be suspicious of any parts on eBay.
