I have a chance to buy a new still in the box tc Hawkins 58cal.for 350.00 is that a good buy?

I would say yes. I have several TC's, but never had a 58. When production stopped, Hawkens were selling for over $700. The highest I've ever paid for a Hawken, was $350, but it was a like new, four digit flintlock 50 cal. with a bag of flints, and a vernier and glob sight, still in the packages.

Sounds like a pretty good deal to me. Just check the bore and everything else. If it is new in box as you say, it may still have the TC grease in the bore that you will have to remove prior to shooting it.

I'm thinking it must be a Big Boar, for the reasons cited. I got one of mine NIB for the same price, and it made me really proud. If you don't snap it up, I bet there are about ninety-leven guys here on the site that will do it instead! :rotf:

Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't recall that T/C made their Hawken in a caliber larger than 54.
It's not a Hawken, it's a "hawkins". Maybe that's the difference?

over on graybeard's if ya go to the traditional muzzleloading section & look on page 2 ya can see pix of P.A. Myers 58cal t/c hawken. it is clearly marked ".58cal Hawken" on the barrel. luck & have a good'en, bubba.

I have a ANIB 58 TC Hawken,my understanding is they came out of the Fox Ridge custom shop.I bought it off Gray Beard Outdoors about 5 yrs ago can't bring myself to shoot it yet :surrender:

SORRY! You try typing with my fingers and then you'll bee less errked.

I have other names that errk folks too, Have learned to just be silent. Lifes been better since.

Don't be silent, your comment may be the swaying thought to help a person. If a mistake is made there is always someone ready to correct it. :haha:

You need to talk to T/C as they call it a Hawken rifle. I am not sure, what is the difference?

It erks me when people call a TC a "Hawken". It isn't.
It is like calling a Jeep a Cadillac.
Different critters.
Your analogy is flawed.

You are comparing Manufacturers, whereas we are talking about "Models". No one said the TC was "made by Hawken", it's just a model name TC gave it, which is acceptable.
