How similiar are Thompson Center percussion and flintlock locks and barrels? Could a percussion gun with be changed to a flint barrel and lock? I suspect that it wouldn't quite work but I don't know how dif. they are.

Mtn. Rifle

I don't know about the new TC hawkins but I di it with my 1977 .45 flint lock I wanted a ,54 barrel for elk Bout a GM 54 drop in att he time only had the caplock.Image a new breach plug to chang it to flint .and I had the precussion lock.it works very well

TC flint and percussion locks are interchangeable. I have done it and it works but the barrels would need to have the breech plug replaced. It would be easier to buy a replacement flint barrel.

One of my Hawken's is a switcher, with both locks, 36 & 50 cap and 45 flint barrels. Only takes a minute or two to switch barrels and locks back and forth.

Forgot to say you will have to send them the barrel. Thats what I had to do on a Seneca barrel. Before plant burned up. Had 90.00 in the barrel when I got it back, this 20yrs ago. Dilly
