My father recently gave me a rough Thompson Center Hawken which I have decided to refurbish and modify. This, being the first TC gun I have owned has troubled me in that I am unsure of how to properly remove the rear sight. It's the fairly standard style which I have seen on nearly all TC sidelocks but I do not know how to remove it. Could someone please help me before I destroy the sight and mar the barrel in the process?

Take out the large elevation screw. Then flip the hinged portion of the sight forward. You will then see two mounting screws that hold the sight to the barrel. Good luck.

on some t/c hawkens the rear sight doesn't flip-up far enough to get to the screws so ya hafta take the pivot pin out along with the elevation screw.

Thanks guys, I've got the style that requires pin removal. I just wanted to double check before tapping that out.
