I was given a TC renegade in 50 Cal that had been left with a charge in it and un cleaned for years. The barrel is really badly pitted. I can barely discern the rifling with a light. I shot, cleaned, and scrubbed it before looking. The remainder of the gun is fine.

Where can I look to find either a drop in barrel or a barrel that I can switch my sights and breech over to? It's 27 inch and 1 inch across the flats. Any direction you can give me to shorten my hunt would be appreciated. Thank you.

any barrel you find will be used unless you luck into a new-old-stock somewhere. you can put a "want to buy" ad here for a barrel. also look on gunbroker or evil-bay & such places for a Renegade barrel or a Green Mountain IBS drop-in barrel.

you can also send your barrel to either Ed Rayl in West Virginia or Robert Hoyt in Pennsylvania to be bored to a larger caliber.

Give Tip Curtis a call if any one has one he will.

Like I said, I don't have anything tied up in the rifle,...till now, but it is a worthy rifle and one of the few production rifles I like. I checked out the auction site and grabbed one of the lightly used drop in barrels. I did consider some of the other makes of barrels but I like the thought of it being a whole gun by the original manufacturer even if the barrel is from another gun.

Thanks Mr. Troll for the tip.

and now you have a donor barrel to send off for a re-bore/re-rifle to another caliber & you still won't have a lot tied up in it.

I look on ebay and there buy it now for 275 and 325.. A used rifle is cheaper than that..

Hi Iwrhea, being it's a Renegade it's 1" across the flats, just like a TC 56 smooth bore. Have it bored out to .562, that's what mine mics. out at. Makes a nice 28 gauge barrel. TOW sells 28 gauge nitro cards, wadding, and shot cards for it, not to mention .550 lead balls. Just a thought for a salvage project to get more use out of it. Take care, Tommy.

$145 is still a pretty good price, considering the quality of his work... depending on what you want to do with the gun, you can go to a .62 smooth, or you can re rifle up to (i think, but don't hold me to it) a .54.

I've called Mr. Hoyt and he's a bit hard to reach, but once you do, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Good luck with your project!

Yup I just paid $140 total for a PA Hunter rebore from 50 cal to 54 cal round bottom semi radious. $125 for rebore and $15 for return shipping.

Very happy with the job he did.
