I need a little info on the TC Renegade Hunter. I know it has a single trigger and I 1:48 twist .50 Cal. barrell. Are these rifles good shooters? Just looking for opinions. Thanks

I learned to shoot with a Renegade 50 with a regular trigger. The barrel is a 1/48 twist and therefore requires a lighter powder charge than a slow twist barrel. Easy to clean, accurate, and will shoot both a maxiball and a patched round ball. Go have some fun.

The local gun shop has a TC renegate with the double set trigger. Have a friend who has had one for over 20 years and has shot plenty of deer with it. Not sure if his has the single or set trigger, but he claims it shoot real well. If it is priced right buy it.

I have qite a few Renegades. All of them have the double trigger though. But for accuracy, the 1-48's shoot quite well. But for that extra PRB Accuracy, I have installed a Green Mountain on most of them. My 1-48's shot 90 Grains of FFFG Goex, TC 7030 patches, and 490 Hornady balls.

Hunted with that load for years and shot so BIG bucks. Very good load.

I like the old school Renegades myself. Nothing wrong with the Hunter but the steel butt plate and double triggers is more attractive to me.

I like mine!

Here's a pic of my Renegade and a target from it's first trip to the range.

It will usually shoot like this from the bench at 50 yards.

50 yards without the bench.

100 yards from the bench.

Not going to win any bench rest competitions, but good enough to do what it was designed to do- make me smile!

Your mileage may vary, of course.

I like them targets that's all in the white. I probably couldn't see that good at 100 though.

With my old eyes I have had best luck using a 6 o'clock hold. I adjust the sights to shoot just a little high (about 1 1/2 inches) at 50 yards. This gives me a zero for a dead on hold for as far as I want to shoot at deer with iron sights (which isn't real far). Having the front sight on white with the black bull above it, is easier for me to get proper sight alinment.

I have a steel buttplate version of the Renagade Hunter in .54.Works good and shoots well.A nice simple hunters rifle.Getting a smooth bore barrel for it soon,I hope,to add another "iron" to the muzzleloader fire.
