A guy who used to be an indian trader at the rondys died, and her daughter is selling off all his stuff. My wife works with this lady, and I picked up all the remaining cans of Goex 2F, but there is a bunch of 3F left. I have 3 traditional rifles: a 45 cal seneca, a 50 Hawken, & a 54 Hawken. TC doesn't list any loads for these rifles with 3F. Was wondering if any of you are using 3F in any of these types of rifles?? Should I be picking up the 3F or let is pass? She has it priced to sell and no one else in this area has black powder.

Buy it.
Reduce your loads by 10-15% with the 3f.
I bet you'll be pleased with the lighter fouling, faster ignition, and higher velocities.

I on the way home yesterday I got to thinking just that. Thought I had read here that some of you were using 3F. Of course there are other things that I should have purchased on the first trip over there too. Never heard of Hornady round balls going bad. Will have to pick up more of them too. Thanks.

I use FFFG in all my guns including the .54s except one that has a distict preference for FFG. It burns a bit cleaner and is more consistent. You'll need to work up loads again and the max should be 10% or so less than the max FFG load, but the max load is never the most accurate load anyway. Grab it if you still can!

Snag it up. Black powder is getting hard to find. I run 3F in all mine. I only plan on using the 2F in my doble barrel 50-90 rifle (brass cartridge)

NO, DON'T DO IT! send it to me and I will make sure it gets properly disposed of. :haha: Just kidding, snap it up!!

By all means get all you can. I use 3F in everything I shoot, a 32, three 50's and a 62 fowler. Because the grains are smaller the pressure will be more so you don't need as much as was already stated. Also it burns cleaner. Try it, you'll like it...
