I picked up a TC Seneca at the Fort Wayne gun show. I had not handled one in quite sometime. When I got home I measured the barrel length at 24 inches from muzzle to the front of the breech. There was some evidence that the barrel had been shortened. The under rib had been shorted but the barrel retaining lug was otiginal.

What is the normal length of the Seneca barrels?

Pletch

Seneca barrels are 27", but Cherokees are 24" and they'll fit if the rear portion of the rib is shortened a bit. The wedge locations are the same for both. Cherokees have bead front sights whereas Senecas have a blade.

I think you got it right. The barrel says Cherokee and has the underrib shortened. There were other changes too. I bought it from a son whose father had passed away. The old man had made minor changes in sights. When he put it away he had carefully greased the back side of the lock and also the set triggers. I expect he knew what he was doing, and prepared it for longer storage. The gun has minor scratches due to normal use and deserves to have the stock redone. Thanks all.
