I just picked up a Thompson Center 50 caliber White Mountain Carbine, I dont think it has been shot [until I shotit]. The gun is mint except for one tiny scratch in the butt stock about 1/ inch long. Any idea of the value of this gun?
Thanks, Craig.

as far as a good hunting rifle its worth taking to the woods, very light and super accurate. as to the value, the only bullets mine likes are the new bullets in the plastic sabots so if you really like hunting with them it worth the cost. the barrels have a super fast twist and almost all the traditional bullets fly crazy when shot.the only way i can get a round ball to shoot straight is to use the plastic patch. some of the maxi balls come close but not good enough to justify hunting with.if i remember right i paid about $260. for mine brand new.that was in 88 i think.

Hmmmph. I wonder what's going on. I picked up a 54 cal a couple of years back ($150), hoping to come up with a 12 ga barrel as a second step. Decided to try shooting it while waiting, and it shoots RBs really well with a tight patch/ball combo and grease-based lube. It didn't really shoot all-lead conicals well until I put a lubed felt wad between them and the powder. Now it shoots them fine, too.

Don't know the value, but was given a White Mountain Carbine for Christmas in the late 80's and it is the best wood's gun I have ever owned. Will never sell and will be passed down to my daughter. Fine gun!
