Has been found in old cannons that were stored exposed to outside temps.
And shells from the late unpleasantness with the north, buried in earth and still able to go boom

Did not see any climate controlled storage when I visited the USS Constitution. Nor at the Powder Magazine in Charleston, SC. Black powder has been around a lot longer than HVAC.

You can put it in a cold, dry place even a freezer and it will keep longer than you and I will be on this earth and then some. In my area there were several "Civil War" battles that occured. The cannon balls that people had found still had Black powder inside them that was not harmed. I keep film, medicine and any perishables in the refrigerator. It is the ideal storage area.
